A playground of endless forests and crystal-clear lakes.
Our group has exclusive access to beautiful Camp Tamakwa, a picture-perfect traditional Canadian summer camp, co-owned by the founders of the iconic Canadian brand Roots. Tamakwa frequently hosts weddings and corporate groups, and their chefs provide us with outstanding menu options, and the ability to accommodate our community’s many dietary requirements.
We sleep in cabins at camp, with indoor plumbing and showers (not tents!). Camp is a rustic experience, but getting outside of our normally cushy hotel/ airbnb travel experience brings us all closer together. From campfires and s’mores, to walking back to your cabin by torchlight (with your cabin-mates by your side!), to the invitation to jump off the iconic diving tower first thing in the morning… nothing compares to the Canadian summer camp experience at Camp Tailwind.
Immortalized in the iconic 1990’s movie, “Indian Summer”**, Camp Tamakwa was the inspiration and filming location for the popular film.
(**Poor film title choice, but it was filmed in the early 90’s)
Written and directed by camp alumni Mike Binder, the film is about a group of friends that return to their old childhood camp. It perfectly captures Tamakwa traditions, songs and pranks. The movie is certainly a nostalgic depiction of days gone by, but a true-to-life representation of the Camp Tamakwa spirit the camp continues to live every single day, every single summer.
