What To Expect

Workshops and Activities

We have great workshops planned for the weekend, and we know that everyone has so much to share.

Start to get to know your speakers and workshop facilitators and start to think about which workshops you’d like to attend!

You’ll have the opportunity to choose your own adventure at camp - from workshops to all the camp activities. Get ready for an incredible experience!

Small Group Connections

You’ll be given a curated small group of peers where you’ll have the opportunity to share your experience and learn from one another in a few sessions over the course of the weekend. Please come prepared with a story about a lesson you’ve learned in business and/or life in the past few years, one that you think might serve other entrepreneurs.

Book Exchange

We have an open book exchange at Camp this year! If you’d like to participate, please bring a book that has impacted your life or work, or moved you in some way. Please write a short note in the front cover and sign it. If you choose to participate we’ll invite you to drop your book off on day one, and choose a new book to take home with you. This is a great way to get to know other community members, and make an impact in another woman’s life.

What To Pack For The Weekend

Camp Tamakwa is a rustic, traditional summer camp in the heart of Algonquin Park, a few hours north of Toronto.

Make sure to pack for comfort and warmth including a bathing suit, warm layers, and a waterproof jacket.

Be sure to bring a warm sleeping bag, bug spray, a flashlight, sunscreen, towels and any toiletries. We’ll provide a pillow, but if you have a preference then feel free to bring your own!

Flying in? Please let us know (tiffany@dovetail.community) and we’ll put aside a sleeping bag for you!

You’ll be taking a boat from the car park to Camp, so pack practically without too many loose items to carry!

TEMPERATURE

September temperatures can range from 8°-27° C (46°-80° F), depending on the year.

LAYERS are best for the weather and for all the Camp activities! You can see from our pictures that last time we had a mix of sundresses & swimming, as well as toques and coats!

Evenings up north tend to be cool enough to wear a jacket, and sometimes even a toque… That’s a Canadian winter hat ;)

“DRESS CODE”

Camp is a VERY casual environment — jeans, t-shirts, tights, sweatshirts.

You’ll want to wear flat-soled shoes, sneakers, or comfortable walk-able sandals that can get wet (for boating). (High heels or dress shoes will not be comfortable at camp.)

FOOD

If you must have specific snacks, please let us know what they are and we’ll do our best to provide them. It’s best not to have food in your cabin, as it might attract some camp “locals”, the squirrels and chipmunks love protein bars and chocolate!

If you need to bring food to Camp, please store it in our critter-proof bins in the dining hall. If you require medicine to be stored, we’ll connect you with our Camp Doctor when you arrive.

Join our Camp Tailwind Facebook group

Make sure to join our private Facebook group for Camp Tailwind attendees & alumni, a wildly generous and supportive group of women entrepreneurs from around the world.

If you’re looking to carpool to Camp, leave a comment on this post to connect with other amazing women!
